This program has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts. Please check back for future offerings!

Yarmouth History Center is pleased to host a new session of our writing workshop with author Steve Langan in April 2025.

Register to develop and explore your “illness and health timeline” in a guided four-week writing workshop that includes generative information and materials. Encouraging participants to write their personal history will be emphasized—and there’s also the opportunity to explore the history of sickness and health among family members, peers, and even your town and region, among other possibilities. Participants and the instructor will establish writing goals, and all participants will be invited to share a portion of their emerging and evolving work with the group.

The workshop will begin on April 4 and meet weekly from 3:00-4:30 on Fridays through April 25. A fifth meeting, date to be determined, will be a public presentation of participants’ writing. All meetings will take place at the Yarmouth History Center, 118 East Elm Street in Yarmouth. The cost for the program is $150.

About the instructor: Author Steve Langan, whose background is in creative writing and public health, holds an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. He has taught at Colby College, Creighton University, Baylor University, and the University of Nebraska Omaha, where he served as Director & Community Liaison at the Medical Humanities program. Langan is the founder of Seven Doctor Project. He has presented and led writing workshops at the Mayo Clinic, Brown University, University of Montreal, Medical College of Wisconsin, and many others. He lives in Yarmouth and on Cliff Island.
