Annual Meeting and Lecture

October 7, 2020

ONLINE, Tuesday, October 20 at 6:45 pm ~ Join Yarmouth History Center online for our Annual Meeting and Lecture on October 20. Members, please join us on Zoom for a brief business meeting at 6:45 pm, which will be followed by a public talk at 7:00 pm by Cathleen Miller, Education and Outreach Archivist and Acting Curator at the University of New England’s Maine Women Writers Collection.

Miller will share an overview of the organization’s collection and highlight its connections to Yarmouth and the Midcoast. The Maine Women Writers Collection was founded in 1959 by Grace Dow and Dorothy Healy to preserve and make available the writings of Maine women who had achieved literary recognition.

Cathleen Miller earned a master’s degree in Poetry from Temple University and a master’s degree in Library Science from Drexel University. She has a passion for getting archival material into people’s hands to illustrate how every small act of recording–whether it be a diary or a receipt–can change the way we understand historical moments. Prior to joining the staff at UNE, she volunteered at the John J. Wilcox, Jr. Archives at the William Way LGBT community center in Philadelphia and later worked at Moore College of Art and Design, Pennsylvania Hospital, and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.

Please email info@yarmouthmehistory.org to be added to the Zoom invite list for this program.
