Anita Loomis: Tomorrowland

March 5, 2024

“Pond” by Anita Loomis

On view through April 27, 2024

Our newest show in the Stonewall Gallery is Tomorrowland by Maine artist Anita Loomis. For this exhibition, Loomis has delved into landscape paintings with an eye toward abstraction, form, color, and line. Tomorrowland explores aspects of our natural surroundings and considers the possible effects of climate change on plants, animals, and terrain. Loomis notes that one of her goals for the series was to explore possible positive aspects of climate change by looking for potentially beneficial evolutionary changes. Several works in this show were created especially for this exhibit and were inspired by features of nearby Royal River Park. The show will be on view through April 27, 2024.

Anita Loomis grew up in Massachusetts. She earned her BA in Studio Art from Framingham State University, an MA with a concentration in Arts Management and her GCPA from the University of Central Florida, FL. She worked in the field of architectural stained glass for many years at a renowned Florida studio, but has focused on her own painting practice since 2004. Her work has been exhibited at Miller White Gallery, South Dennis, MA, Fountain Street Gallery, Boston, MA, and various exhibitions in New England, Pennsylvania, China, and Japan. Anita lives and works from her home in Kittery, Maine.

The Stonewall Gallery is located inside the Yarmouth History Center at 118 East Elm Street in Yarmouth, Maine. Our hours are Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00-4:00.
