An Evening with Poet Christopher Seid

April 9, 2015

C SeidJoin us as we welcome poet and Yarmouth resident Christopher Seid on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 7:00 pm. Christopher will read from Age of Exploration, his newly-published collection of poems. Books will be available for purchase and wine and cheese will be served. This is a free event at the Yarmouth History Center.

Christopher Seid holds an MFA from Vermont College and has published two books of poems, Prayers to the Other Life and Age of Exploration. Born and raised in Iowa, he has made his home in Yarmouth for the past 12 years. He works as a freelance writer and serves on the board of The Telling Room, a nonprofit writing center for children and young adults in Portland.

The poems in his new volume are a mix of meditative narratives and personal lyrics that explore themes of discovery, travel, family love, aging and death, 9/11 and the Iraq war, loss and revelation. About this book, former Maine Poet Laureate Betsy Sholl writes: “These poems exist in a force field between wholeness and limitation, between the longing for transcendence and the realities of responsibility and loss.”
